There was
   Yelling
    And
Screaming
  From you
And mother

I was wondering
      What was going through
Your head
      Big Brother

      I was frightened
By the outbursts
      Afraid of your frustration
And mother's anger

          Fists hit the wall
          Voices rising
          Tempers flaring
And I am trembling in fear

      Is there nothing left
For you to fight for anymore?

You storm out the door
           Giving it a slam
I ran to the window
           To watch you disappear

Mother takes a seat at the kitchen table
           Her hands cradle her weeping head
I know not to ask
           And make my way to bed

           I am shaken
           Breathing hard
           Tears pouring
           Lips quivering

In the morning you still weren't there
I sat on the couch to wait for you
Mother sat in her chair in silence

I missed your presence
Your warm atmosphere
Gentle eyes like dark sapphires
Voice a mellow sound

You dominate my mind
As I worry by the moving time
Questions resurface
Laced in the voice of others

But as I defend your actions
Everyone seems to turn their heads
And I am left standing here in shock
While mother doesn't speak a word

            I cried for you
            In the night
            My soul died
            Beside yours

            And as you
            Walked away
            I prayed for
            Your return someday.
